How to Use Smart Home Integration on WearOS

Your WearOS watch controls smart home devices through the Google Home app and voice commands. Turn lights on, adjust thermostats, and check cameras directly from your wrist without reaching for your phone.

Setting Up Google Home​

Connect your watch to your smart home ecosystem.

  • Install Google Home: Download the Google Home app from the Play Store on your watch if it's not pre-installed.

  • Sign In: Use the same Google account linked to your smart home devices on your phone.

  • Grant Permissions: Allow the app to access your home devices and location when prompted.

  • Sync Devices: Your smart home devices sync automatically once signed in. Favorites and rooms from your phone app carry over.

Device Control​

Manage your smart home directly from your wrist.

  • Lighting Control: Turn lights on and off, adjust brightness with sliders, and change colors on compatible bulbs. Control individual lights or entire rooms.

  • Climate Control: Adjust your thermostat temperature, switch between heating and cooling modes, and view current indoor temperature.

  • Security and Monitoring: View camera feeds on your watch display, receive doorbell notifications when someone rings, and arm or disarm compatible security systems.

  • Switches and Plugs: Control smart plugs and switches to turn devices on and off remotely.

Voice Control​

Use voice commands for hands-free operation.

  • Light Commands: Say Hey Google, turn on the living room lights or Hey Google, dim the bedroom lights to 50%.

  • Temperature Commands: Say Hey Google, set the thermostat to 72 degrees or Hey Google, what's the temperature inside?.

  • Scene Commands: Say Hey Google, activate movie mode to trigger custom scenes you've configured in the Google Home app.

  • Device Status: Ask Hey Google, is the front door locked? or Hey Google, which lights are on?.

Additional Watch Features​

Beyond smart home, your watch offers other useful controls.

  • Camera Remote: Use your watch as a remote shutter for your phone's camera. Includes 3-second timer and zoom controls.

  • Find My Phone: Say Hey Google, find my phone to make your phone ring at maximum volume, even if it's on silent.

  • Media Control: Control music and video playback on compatible smart speakers and TVs through the Google Home app.
