Here’s how to set up and use NFC payments on your WearOS watch.

Google Wallet vs. Samsung Pay​

  • Google Wallet: This is the primary payment system for all modern WearOS watches. It requires a watch with NFC running WearOS 2.0 or newer.
  • Samsung Pay: This is pre-installed on Samsung Galaxy watches and works alongside Google Wallet.

How to Set Up Google Wallet​

  1. Open the Google Wallet app on your watch.
  2. Tap Get started.
  3. Set up a screen lock for security.
  4. Follow the instructions on your phone to add and verify your credit or debit cards.

How to Make a Payment​

  1. Quick Access: Double-tap the crown or use the home screen widget.
  2. Select Card: Choose your preferred payment card.
  3. Hold & Pay: Hold your watch face over the contactless terminal.
  4. Confirmation: Wait for a vibration or sound to confirm the payment.

How to Troubleshoot Payment Failures​

  • "Card Not Added": Make sure your card is verified in the Google Wallet app on your phone.
  • "Payment Declined": Check your card limits, account balance, and merchant compatibility.
  • "Hold Closer": Position your watch flat against the terminal and hold it there for a moment longer.
  • "Network Error": Make sure your watch has an internet connection through your phone or LTE.
