How to Set Up LTE on Pixel Watch 3

LTE models of the Pixel Watch 3 can operate independently with their own cellular connection, enabling phone-free calls, messages, and streaming.

Requirements

  • Pixel Watch 3 LTE Model: Must be LTE version (not WiFi only)
  • Compatible Carrier: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Google Fi, US Cellular
  • Same Carrier as Phone: Watch must use same network as your phone
  • Active Phone Plan: Existing voice plan in good standing
  • Additional Fee: $5-15/month depending on carrier

Setup Process

Step 1: Open Pixel Watch App Pixel Watch app Mobile network Set up new profile

Step 2: Choose Setup Method Select Set up via cellular carrier and follow carrier-specific instructions.

Step 3: Activate on Watch On watch: Settings Connectivity Mobile Verify On

Step 4: Verify Connection Look for cellular signal bars on watch. Test by disabling phone Bluetooth and making a call.

LTE Capabilities

  • Make/Receive Calls: Without phone nearby
  • Send/Receive Messages: SMS and messaging apps
  • Stream Music: YouTube Music, Spotify
  • Use Apps: Google Maps, Google Assistant
  • Emergency Features: Emergency SOS works anywhere with signal

LTE Battery Impact

LTE usage drains battery faster than Bluetooth-connected mode:

  • Continuous LTE: 4-6 hours additional drain per day
  • Occasional LTE: 1-2 hours additional drain
  • Best Practice: Use LTE when needed, rely on phone connection otherwise

Automatic Connection

Watch automatically switches between:

  1. Bluetooth: When phone is nearby (most efficient)
  2. WiFi: When phone is out of range but WiFi available
  3. LTE: When both Bluetooth and WiFi unavailable

No manual switching required.
