How to Use a Google Workspace Account with Your Pixel Watch

Using a Google Workspace account with your Pixel Watch can be tricky due to certain limitations. Here’s what you need to know.

The Limitation

The main limitation is that Google Workspace accounts with "Device Management" enabled cannot be added to a Pixel Watch.

The Solution

  1. Disable Device Management: Your Google Workspace administrator must turn off Mobile device management at admin.google.com/ac/devices/settings/general.
  2. Add Your Account: Go to Settings > Accounts & security > Add Google Account on your watch.
  3. Factory Reset: You may need to factory reset your watch if you continue to have issues after disabling device management.

Workspace-Specific Issues

  • The Gmail app may lock when you switch to your Workspace account.
  • Work calendar data may not sync to Google's Wear OS calendar app.
  • The account dialog may close after 5 seconds during setup attempts.
  • Device management policies may block watch pairing.

Workarounds

  • Your work calendar may show in the pre-installed calendar app, but not in Google's app.
  • Turn off device management policies before you attempt to set up your watch.
  • Factory reset your watch after any policy changes for complete compatibility.
