How to Use Stress Management on Google Pixel Watch 2

The Pixel Watch 2 introduces comprehensive stress management through the new cEDA (continuous electrodermal activity) sensor, a feature not available on the original Pixel Watch.

Stress Management Features

  • cEDA Sensor: Measures electrodermal activity (skin conductance) continuously
  • Body Response Tracking: Monitors physical stress indicators throughout the day
  • Stress Notifications: Alerts when elevated stress is detected
  • Guided Breathing: Fitbit Relax mindfulness exercises (2 and 5 minute sessions)
  • Stress Score: Daily 1-100 score based on body responses, sleep, and activity

How cEDA Works

The sensor tracks physical signs of stress:

  • Skin Conductance: Electrical activity on skin surface changes with stress
  • Sweat Gland Activity: Subtle perspiration from sympathetic nervous system response
  • Continuous Monitoring: Runs automatically in background when worn
  • AI Analysis: Algorithms identify stress patterns vs normal activity

Setting Up Stress Tracking

  1. Ensure Fitbit account is linked
  2. Update to latest watch software
  3. Wear watch snugly for sensor contact
  4. Open Fitbit app Stress Management Enable body response tracking

Using Guided Breathing

From Watch: Press crown Open Relax app Choose 2 or 5 minute session Follow on-screen breathing prompts

From Stress Notification: Tap notification Select Start Relax Follow guided breathing

Benefits: Immediate stress reduction, lower heart rate, improved focus, better stress resilience over time.

Viewing Stress Data

Fitbit app Stress Management tile

  • Daily Score (1-100): Higher is better (70-100 excellent, below 50 elevated stress)
  • Body Responses: Timeline showing when stress responses occurred
  • Weekly Trends: Pattern analysis over time
  • Context: Correlations with sleep, exercise, and other factors

Stress Score Components

Your daily score considers:

  • Body Responses: Number and intensity of stress signs
  • Heart Rate Patterns: Elevated or irregular heart rate
  • Sleep Quality: Restorative sleep reduces stress
  • Activity Level: Exercise improves stress resilience
  • Breathing Sessions: Logged Fitbit Relax practice

Improving Your Score

  • Daily Breathing: Use Fitbit Relax 1-2 times daily
  • Quality Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours nightly
  • Regular Exercise: Physical activity reduces stress
  • Identify Triggers: Note patterns in when stress occurs
  • Consistent Wear: All-day wearing provides best data

Fitbit Premium Features

With Fitbit Premium (6-month trial included):

  • Mindfulness Sessions: Guided meditation programs
