How to Reset Google Pixel Watch 2

The Pixel Watch 2 supports both soft reset (restart) and factory reset for different troubleshooting needs.


Soft Reset (Restart)

Use for frozen screen, app crashes, connection issues, or minor glitches. No data is erased.

Normal Restart:

  1. Press and hold crown for 2-3 seconds
  2. Tap Restart on power menu
  3. Confirm and wait 30-60 seconds for reboot

Force Restart (Frozen Watch):

  1. Press and hold crown for 10-15 seconds
  2. Keep holding even if screen goes black
  3. Release when Google logo appears
  4. Wait 30-60 seconds for complete boot

Factory Reset

Erases all data and returns watch to original condition. Use for selling, switching phones, or persistent problems.

What Gets Erased:

  • All settings and preferences
  • Downloaded apps and data
  • Custom watch faces
  • Bluetooth pairing and WiFi credentials
  • Offline music and alarms

What's Preserved (in cloud):

  • Health data synced to Fitbit/Google
  • Purchased apps (can reinstall)
  • Fitbit Premium subscription status

Factory Reset Methods

Method 3: Recovery Mode (Unresponsive)

  1. Charge to at least 50%
  2. Hold both crown and side button simultaneously
  3. Follow on-screen recovery prompts

Before Factory Reset

  • Sync Health Data: Open Fitbit app and allow full sync
  • Note Settings: Screenshot important preferences
  • Charge Battery: Ensure 50%+ to prevent interruption
  • Prepare Credentials: Have Google and Fitbit passwords ready

After Factory Reset

  1. Watch displays setup screen
  2. Pair with phone using Pixel Watch app
  3. Sign in to Google and Fitbit accounts
  4. Health data syncs from cloud (15-30 minutes)
  5. Reinstall apps and reconfigure settings

Troubleshooting

  • Reset Won't Complete: Charge fully, try different reset method, force restart first.
  • Data Not Syncing: Wait 30 minutes, check internet, verify correct accounts.
  • Watch Stuck: Be patient (5-10 minutes normal), force restart if frozen 15+ minutes.
