Galaxy Watch Weather Not Updating on Watch Face

If the weather on your Galaxy Watch face shows outdated information or won't update, this is a known issue particularly affecting users with non-Samsung phones.

Why This Happens

Samsung Weather relies on location services and syncing with your phone. The integration works best with Samsung phones.

  • Non-Samsung Phone Issue: Location services don't sync properly between Galaxy Watch and non-Samsung Android phones
  • Recent Updates: Software updates have worsened this problem for some users
  • Location Permissions: Weather apps need constant location access to update
  • Sync Delays: Data transfer between phone and watch can be interrupted

Solution 1: Use Simple Weather App

Third-party weather apps often work better than Samsung Weather.

  1. Open Play Store on your watch
  2. Search for Simple Weather
  3. Install the app
  4. Set Simple Weather as your watch face complication

This bypasses Samsung Weather entirely and provides reliable updates.

Solution 2: Try Google Weather

Google Weather has been reported working after recent updates.

  1. Open Play Store on your watch
  2. Search for Google Weather or Weather
  3. Install if not already present
  4. Use as complication or tile

Solution 3: Manual Weather Refresh

Force an update when weather is stale:

  1. Open the Weather app on your watch
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the forecast
  3. Tap Refresh or pull down to refresh
  4. Wait for data to update

Solution 4: Use Weather as a Tile

Tiles update more reliably than complications:

  1. From your watch face, swipe left to access tiles
  2. Long press to edit tiles
  3. Add Weather tile
  4. Swipe to this tile for current weather instead of using complication

Solution 5: Check Location Permissions

Ensure weather apps can access location:

On your watch:

  1. Go to Settings Apps Weather
  2. Select Permissions Location
  3. Choose Allow all the time

On your phone:

  1. Go to Settings Apps Galaxy Wearable
  2. Verify location permission is granted
  3. Check Samsung Weather app has location access too

Solution 6: Configure Samsung Weather Widget

The watch syncs with the Samsung Weather widget on your phone.

  1. Add Samsung Weather widget to your phone home screen
  2. Configure it with your location
  3. Weather should sync to watch automatically

Samsung Phone Users

If you have a Samsung phone but weather still doesn't update:

  1. Open Samsung Weather app on phone
  2. Verify location is correct
  3. Enable background refresh for Samsung Weather
  4. Check Samsung Health and Galaxy Wearable background permissions
