How to Pair Galaxy Watch 8

Pairing your Galaxy Watch 8 with an Android phone takes about 10-15 minutes. You'll need the Galaxy Wearable app and a phone running Android 12 or higher.


Before You Start

Prepare both devices for the pairing process.

  • Charge Your Watch: At least 30% battery to avoid interruption during setup
  • Phone Requirements: Android 12 or higher with 1.5GB+ RAM
  • Download App: Install Galaxy Wearable from Google Play Store
  • Enable Bluetooth: Turn on Bluetooth on your phone

Pairing Steps

Follow these steps to pair your watch and phone.

Step 1: Power On the Watch

  1. Press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds
  2. Wait for the Samsung logo
  3. Select your language when prompted

Step 2: Open the App

  1. Open Galaxy Wearable on your phone
  2. Tap Start the journey
  3. Grant requested permissions (Bluetooth, location, notifications)

Step 3: Connect

  1. The app searches for nearby devices
  2. Select Galaxy Watch 8 from the list
  3. Verify the 6-digit code matches on both devices
  4. Tap Pair on both devices

Step 4: Complete Setup

  1. Sign in to your Samsung account
  2. Accept terms and privacy policy
  3. Choose to restore from backup or set up as new
  4. Allow software updates to install (may take 10-20 minutes)

Samsung Galaxy phones running One UI 6.0 or later get automatic detection.

  1. Turn on your Galaxy Watch 8 near your Galaxy phone

Troubleshooting

Watch Not Detected

  • Verify Bluetooth is on for both devices
  • Keep devices within 3 feet of each other
  • Restart both devices and try again
  • Check watch battery is above 30%

Pairing Code Doesn't Match

  • Restart the pairing process
  • Clear Bluetooth cache on phone
  • Factory reset watch if issue persists

Connection Drops

  • Disable power saving mode on phone
  • Grant all permissions to Galaxy Wearable
  • Update phone software to latest version
