Galaxy Watch 8 Notification Issues

Notification problems on the Galaxy Watch 8 usually stem from permission settings, Bluetooth connection issues, or Do Not Disturb mode. This guide covers the most common fixes.


Quick Checks

Before detailed troubleshooting, verify these basics:

  • Bluetooth Connected: Confirm the watch shows connected status to your phone
  • Do Not Disturb Off: Check for the moon icon in quick settings
  • Notifications Enabled: Open Galaxy Wearable app and verify notifications are on

Check Notification Permissions

Ensure notifications are properly configured in the Galaxy Wearable app.

  1. Open Galaxy Wearable on your phone
  2. Tap Watch settings Notifications
  3. Verify the main notifications toggle is On
  4. Tap App notifications
  5. Enable notifications for each app you want alerts from

App-Specific Settings

Individual apps need permissions both on your phone and in Galaxy Wearable.

On Your Phone:

  1. Open Settings Apps
  2. Select the app having notification issues
  3. Tap Notifications and enable all relevant categories
  4. Enable Show on lock screen

In Galaxy Wearable:

  1. Open Galaxy Wearable Watch settings Notifications
  2. Find the specific app in App notifications
  3. Enable all notification types for that app

Disable Do Not Disturb

DND mode silences all notifications.

On Watch:

  1. Swipe down from watch face
  2. Tap the moon icon if it's active to disable DND

On Phone:

  1. Check Settings Modes and Routines
  2. Disable any active DND schedules

Fix Battery Optimization

Android may block notifications from background apps.

  1. Open phone Settings Apps Galaxy Wearable
  2. Tap Battery and select Unrestricted or Don't optimize
  3. Do the same for apps with notification issues

Reset Bluetooth Connection

If permissions are correct but notifications still don't work:

  1. Disable Bluetooth on both phone and watch
  2. On your phone, go to Settings Apps Bluetooth
  3. Tap Storage Clear cache
  4. Restart both devices
  5. Re-enable Bluetooth and let them reconnect

Common Specific Issues

Messaging Apps Not Working

  • Ensure app isn't installed in Samsung Secure Folder
  • Check that the app isn't using Dual Messenger

Delayed Notifications

  • Disable battery optimization for the app and Galaxy Wearable
  • Check that the app has background activity permissions

Some Apps Work, Others Don't

  • Re-check each non-working app's individual permissions
  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling the problematic app
