How to Reset Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro

The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro supports two types of resets: a soft reset (restart) that preserves your data, and a factory reset that erases everything.


Soft Reset (Restart)

Use when the watch is slow, apps aren't responding, or after software updates.

Method 1 - Using Settings:

  1. Swipe down from watch face
  2. Tap Settings gear icon
  3. Navigate to General Reset
  4. Select Restart and confirm

Method 2 - Using Button:

  1. Press and hold Home button
  2. Tap Restart from power menu
  3. Wait 30-45 seconds for reboot

Factory Reset

Erases all data—use for persistent issues or before selling.

Before Resetting:

  • Sync health data with Samsung Health on your phone
  • Backup GPX routes and navigation data
  • Note customized settings

Method 1 - Watch Settings:

  1. Navigate to Settings General Reset
  2. Tap Factory data reset
  3. Enter PIN if prompted
  4. Tap Delete all to confirm

Method 2 - Galaxy Wearable App:

  1. Open Galaxy Wearable on your phone
  2. Tap Watch settings General Reset watch
  3. Confirm the reset

Method 3 - Hardware Buttons (Unresponsive Watch):

  1. Press and hold both buttons for 7-10 seconds
  2. Release when Samsung logo appears
  3. Use buttons to navigate to Wipe data/factory reset
  4. Confirm with Yes

After Factory Reset

Complete setup from scratch:

  1. Follow on-screen language and setup prompts
  2. Pair with phone using Galaxy Wearable app
  3. Sign in to Samsung account
  4. Restore backup data from Samsung Health
  5. Reconfigure GPX routes and settings
  6. Update software: Settings Software update

When to Reset

Try Restart First:

  • Watch running slowly
  • Apps not responding
  • Bluetooth connectivity issues
  • After software updates

Factory Reset For:

  • Selling or giving away the watch
  • Persistent issues after restart
  • Preparing for warranty return
  • Major software corruption
