How to Import GPX Routes to Galaxy Watch 5 Pro

GPX route import with turn-by-turn navigation is one of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro's standout features—perfect for hiking and outdoor adventures.


Get GPX Files

Popular sources:

  • AllTrails - Download routes from trail database
  • Komoot - Export planned routes as GPX
  • Strava - Export activities as GPX files
  • Wikiloc - Download community-shared routes
  • Gaia GPS - Create and export custom paths

Any valid .gpx file (GPX 1.0 or 1.1) works.


Import via Samsung Health

  1. Open Samsung Health on your phone
  2. Tap Exercise tab
  3. Tap Routes or Workout programs
  4. Tap + to add new route
  5. Select Import GPX file
  6. Navigate to your GPX file and select it
  7. Name the route and tap Import
  8. Route automatically syncs to watch

Use Imported Routes

On watch:

  1. Open Samsung Health Exercise
  2. Select activity type (Hiking, Running, Cycling)
  3. Tap Routes
  4. Select your imported route
  5. Review preview, then tap Start

During navigation: Map shows position, vibration alerts before turns, distance markers show progress.

Troubleshooting

GPX won't import:

  • Verify file is .gpx format (not .tcx or .fit)
  • Check file isn't too large
  • Re-export from original source

Route not syncing:

  • Check Bluetooth connection
  • Manual sync in Galaxy Wearable app
  • Restart both devices

Navigation not starting:

  • Wait for GPS lock (green icon)
  • Ensure battery above 20%
