What Apps Are Available on Samsung Galaxy Watch 4?

The Galaxy Watch 4 runs WearOS, giving you access to the Google Play Store with thousands of watch apps alongside Samsung's proprietary apps. This combination provides comprehensive coverage for fitness, productivity, music, and customization.

Pre-Installed Apps

The watch comes with essential Samsung and Google apps ready to use.

  • Samsung Health: Fitness tracking with 90+ workout modes, body composition analysis, sleep tracking, heart rate, SpO2, and ECG.

  • Samsung Pay: Contactless payments with NFC and MST (works at more terminals than competitors).

  • Other Samsung Apps: Messages, Phone, Calendar, Weather, Clock, Gallery.

  • Google Assistant: Voice commands, smart home control, and queries.

  • Google Maps: Turn-by-turn navigation for walking, driving, and transit.

  • YouTube Music: Streaming and offline playback (Premium required).

  • Other Google Apps: Gmail, Google Keep, Google Calendar, Google Fit, Google Translate.

Download additional apps from Play Store directly on the watch.

  • Fitness: Strava for running/cycling with social features, Nike Run Club for guided runs, MyFitnessPal for calorie tracking, and Calm/Headspace for meditation.

  • Music & Audio: Spotify for streaming and offline downloads (Premium required), Pandora for radio streaming, and Audible for audiobooks.

  • Productivity: Todoist for task management, Outlook for email and calendar, and Wear Camera Remote for controlling your phone's camera.

  • Communication: WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, and Discord for messaging notifications and quick replies.

  • Watch Faces: Facer with 50,000+ community designs and WatchMaker for custom face creation.

Installing and Managing Apps

Add apps through the watch or your phone.

  • On Watch: Open Play Store from the app drawer, search or browse for apps, and tap to install directly on the watch.

  • From Phone: Open Google Play Store and search for the app, look for WearOS compatible apps, and select your Galaxy Watch 4 as the installation target.

  • Managing Storage: The watch has 16GB total with about 10GB available for apps and data. Uninstall unused apps, clear cached data, and limit offline music downloads if storage fills up.

Limitations

Some app categories don't work well on a small wrist display.

  • Social Media: Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook provide notifications only, not full apps
  • Video Streaming: YouTube and Netflix aren't practical on the small screen
  • Gaming: Limited to simple casual games due to battery and performance constraints
  • Battery Impact: Music streaming and GPS apps drain battery quickly
