How to Reset Samsung Galaxy Watch 4
There are two types of resets: a soft reset (restart) and a factory reset (hard reset that erases all data).
Soft Reset (Restart)

Quick Restart: Press and hold Home button for 2-3 seconds, tap
Power off, wait 10 seconds, then press and hold Home button to power on. -
Force Restart (if unresponsive): Press and hold both buttons for 7-10 seconds. Watch force restarts automatically.
Factory Reset (From Settings)
- Go to
SettingsGeneralReset - Tap
Resetto confirm - Watch erases data and restarts to setup screen
This erases all apps and watch faces, health data stored locally, account sign-ins, WiFi and Bluetooth pairings, and custom settings.
Factory Reset (Recovery Mode)
When settings are inaccessible:
- Power off watch completely
- Press and hold both Home and Back buttons together
- Release when
Samsunglogo appears - Navigate with Home (scroll) and Back (select)
- Select
Wipe data/factory reset - Confirm with
Yes - Select
Reboot system now
Before You Reset
- Back up health data through
Samsung Healthon phone - Note custom watch faces to reinstall
- Ensure at least 30% battery
- Sign out of
Samsung Payif configured
When to Reset
- Selling or giving away the watch
- Persistent software issues or crashes
- Severe battery drain problems
- Preparing to pair with different phone
- After failed software updates
Try Before Resetting
Restart the watch first, clear cache for problematic apps, update software, or unpair/re-pair with phone before doing a full factory reset.
