How to Change Watch Bands on Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

The Galaxy Watch 4 uses standard 20mm quick-release bands that swap in seconds without any tools. Both the 40mm and 44mm models use the same 20mm band width, so any 20mm quick-release band will work.

Removing the Current Band

The quick-release mechanism makes band changes simple.

  1. Turn the watch face-down
  2. Locate the small button on the band attachment point
  3. Press and hold the button (you may need a fingernail)
  4. Slide the band outward away from the watch while pressing
  5. Repeat for the other side

The button is small but easy to find once you flip the watch over. Each side releases independently.

Installing a New Band

Attaching a replacement band takes just a few seconds.

  1. Hold the new band with the quick-release pin visible
  2. Press the button on the band connector
  3. Insert the pin into the watch lug hole
  4. Slide the band inward toward the watch center
  5. Release the button and listen for a click
  6. Tug the band firmly to verify it's secure
  7. Repeat for the other side

If the band slides out without pressing the button, it's not properly installed. Remove and try again.

Band Types and Recommendations

Different materials suit different activities and occasions.

  • Silicone/Sport Bands ($10-40): Best for workouts, swimming, and daily wear. Water-resistant, easy to clean, and comfortable for sleep tracking. Included band is silicone.

  • Fabric/Nylon Bands ($15-50): Lightweight and breathable for all-day comfort. Many color options but can absorb sweat and stain over time.

  • Leather Bands ($30-100+): Professional appearance for office and formal occasions. Not water-resistant and requires occasional conditioning.

  • Metal/Mesh Bands ($40-200+): Durable and dressy with a premium feel. Heavier than other options and may require link sizing.

Where to Buy Bands

Any 20mm quick-release band works with the Galaxy Watch 4.

  • Budget ($10-20): Amazon generic 20mm bands offer good variety and adequate quality for testing different styles.

  • Mid-Range ($20-50): Barton, Spigen, and Samsung fabric bands balance quality and price well.

  • Premium ($50-150+): Official Samsung metal bracelets, Nomad leather, and designer brands offer the best materials and finish.
