How to Answer Calls on Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

The Galaxy Watch 4 lets you answer and make calls directly from your wrist using the built-in speaker and microphone. Calls work best for quick conversations in quiet environments.

Answering Incoming Calls

When a call comes in, the watch displays the caller's name or number with options to accept or decline.

  • Accept: Swipe right on the notification or tap the green phone icon.

  • Decline: Swipe left or tap the red icon. The call goes to voicemail.

  • Decline with Message: Swipe up during an incoming call to send a quick reply like I'll call you back via SMS.

Making Calls from the Watch

You can initiate calls through the Contacts app, Phone app, or voice commands.

  • Using Contacts: Press the Home button and open Contacts, scroll to find the contact, tap their name, then tap the phone icon.

  • Using Voice Commands: Press and hold the Home button to activate Google Assistant, say Call Mom or Call Dad mobile, and confirm if the contact has multiple numbers.

  • Using the Dial Pad: Open the Phone app and tap the dial pad icon to manually enter a number. Voice dialing is usually faster given the small screen.

Audio Options During Calls

The watch speaker works for quick calls, but you have other options for better quality.

  • Watch Speaker: Adequate for quiet environments. Position the watch 6-12 inches from your mouth when speaking.

  • Transfer to Phone: During a call, tap the phone icon and select Switch to phone to continue the conversation on your phone.

  • Bluetooth Headphones: If you have earbuds paired with the watch, audio automatically routes to them when you answer. This provides much better quality and privacy.

Call Controls

While on a call, you can manage audio and access additional options.

  • Mute: Tap the microphone icon to mute your end.
  • Volume: Swipe down for quick settings and adjust the volume slider.
  • End Call: Tap the red hang-up button.
  • Keypad: Access the dial pad for navigating phone menus.

LTE Calls (LTE Models Only)

LTE models can make calls independently without your phone nearby.

  • Requirements: Active carrier plan ($10-15/month) from Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, or US Cellular.

  • Same Number: Calls use your regular phone number through NumberSync or DIGITS.

  • Best Use Case: Exercising or running errands without your phone while staying reachable.
